ABOUT US:
Kate Parsons and Christy Shafer,
a mother-daughter duo, started Locust Grove
Antiques & Interiors in 1997 after Kate and her
husband bought the circa1845 two story brick
home next door.
Kate needed to find a use for the dog
obedience school on the property. The
building was a “dog” and took many months of
work to convert into its present incarnation.
The large space was divided into inviting room
vignettes to showcase the magnificent and
ever changing collection of European & Asian
furniture and art.
Smalls from auctions, estate sales, flea
markets, trips to Europe and the large world
markets in Dallas and Atlanta filled in the
vignettes.
It was (and is still) Kate and Christy's mission
to show people how to successfully mix
antiques and new home furnishing to create
unique living spaces for themselves.
"We hope to inspire our customers to
go beyond the “cookie cutter”
formulas of home design and avoid
having exactly the same stuff their
neighbor has.”
"Our look is unique, because we buy
small quantities of quality new
merchandise that we thoughtfully mix
with our selection of antique
furnishings, art & accessories. We
aren’t afraid of mixing a great old
Chinese altar table with a
contemporary mirror, or an
Indonesian caned daybed inlaid with
ivory, with an ultra-modern floor
lamp. It’s the mix that makes it
interesting!"
